Separation changes the plan . You shape what comes next
About Sorella
Sorella Planning was created to help women feel more informed, organised and supported as they navigate the financial side of separation.
Separation can be emotionally overwhelming, but it is also a financial process, one that requires you to understand your current position, make important decisions and begin planning for a future that may look very different from the one you expected.
You shouldn’t have to face that process alone.
Why I Started Sorella
My name is Deanna and Sorella was born from both my professional background as an accountant and my own experience of separation.
During my separation, I experienced how unequal the financial playing field can feel when one person has a greater understanding of the joint financial position than the other. When you are already dealing with the emotional impact of a relationship ending, trying to understand years of financial information, gather documents and make decisions about your future can feel incredibly daunting.
I felt the frustration and injustice of navigating a process in which access to information and financial knowledge could create an imbalance of power.
That experience showed me how valuable it can be to have someone beside you who understands the numbers, can help you ask the right questions and will take the time to explain what the financial information actually means.
I started Sorella to provide the practical, informed and compassionate support that I believe every woman should be able to access during separation.
My Background
I am an experienced accountant with a long history of working alongside individuals and small business owners.
My work has involved helping people understand their financial position, organise complex information, prepare budgets and cashflow forecasts, and make sense of the numbers behind important decisions.
Through Sorella, I bring together that professional experience with the personal understanding that comes from having navigated separation myself. I understand that this work is not simply about spreadsheets and documents. Behind every number is a person trying to protect her future, regain a sense of control and make thoughtful decisions during an uncertain time.
Sorella does not replace your lawyer, financial adviser or forensic accountant. We work alongside your professional team, helping you become better organised, better informed and more prepared for the conversations and decisions ahead.
Why the name Sorella?
“Sorella” means “sister” in Italian. I chose the name because it reflects the kind of support I wanted the business to provide: someone beside you who listens, helps you find your footing and wants to see you move forward.
The dahlia also has a deeply personal meaning for me. Growing dahlias and spending time in my garden became a source of peace and happiness during my own separation.
Dahlias represent strength, resilience and the ability to continue growing through change. Their roots remain beneath the surface through difficult seasons, ready to grow and bloom again when the time is right.
For me, the Sorella dahlia represents the strength women carry with them, even when they may not yet be able to see or feel it themselves.
Our Vision.
Our vision is for every woman navigating separation to feel that she understands her financial position and has a voice in the decisions shaping her future.
We want to help create a more balanced process, one in which women have access to their financial information, understand what the numbers mean and feel confident asking questions.
Sorella provides the bridge between the financial documents, the legal process and real life. We help turn overwhelming information into something clearer and more manageable, so women can move forward with greater knowledge, confidence and control.
Separation may change the life you had planned, but it does not take away your ability to shape what comes next.
